The Defence Minister and the Chief of the Defence Force will attend a ceremony in Sydney today for the arrival home of an Australian soldier killed in Afghanistan.
A formal ramp ceremony will be held at the RAAF base at Richmond for the arrival of the body of Lance Coporal Jason Marks.
Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon and the Chief of Defence Angus Houston will be among the dignitaries for the ceremony which will remain private at the request of Lance Corporal Marks family.
The father of two was killed during a firefight with the Taliban earlier in the week.
Four other soldiers were injured during the assault.
Lance Corporal Marks is the fifth Australian to die in Afghanistan since 2002.

WEST Australian Liberal leader Troy Buswell admitted yesterday his two teenage sons were being teased at school over his chair-sniffing antics, as he prepared to fight to keep his job.
“They have been (teased) but they’re boys and that’s part of growing up and being a boy,” he told ABC radio.
“I suppose they’re in a slightly more unique situation and that’s a matter that my wife and I are trying to work through with them and their school.”
Mr Buswell, 42, said he was deeply embarrassed about his behaviour but had not acted with ill intent when he sniffed the chair of a female staffer after she got up following a meeting in his office in late 2005.
He said he could not justify his actions. He also could not rule out other embarrassing revelations in the future.
“I’ve had a fairly robust and full life and I can’t unequivocally say that there won’t be people who may hold a view that something I did or said, either directly or inadvertently, caused them offence,” he said.
In January, Mr Buswell was at the centre of another furore when it was revealed he snapped the bra strap of a Labor staffer during a drunken night at parliament.
He has also been accused ofspeaking inappropriately to female MPs.

FEARS are escalating “minute by minute” for Perth toddler Imran Zilic, missing in the South Australian Outback.
Imran was reported missing to Western Australian police on April 28 when his father, Aliya Zilic, failed to return him after an ccess visit.
The last confirmed sighting of Mr Zilic and three-year-old Imran was at the Poochera Hotel on Eyre Peninsula, on April 21.
Mr Zilic had booked a room but left after only an hour or two.
Detectives revealed this afternoon that Mr Zilic had been captured on security vision at a store in Coober Pedy on April 23 but there was no sign of the boy.
“Fears grow minute by minute,” Detective Inspector Doug Barr said.
“It is concerning. You can imagine a mother without a child and who doesn’t know where he is for just five minutes, never mind 11 days,” Det-Insp Barr said.
Mr Zilic was arrested by police in WA yesterday near the town of Kununurra but is not giving police any information about his son’s whereabouts.
Police are focusing attention on Coober Pedy and have asked anyone who may have seen Mr Zilic to contact them - particularly if he had bought items appropriate for a three-year-old.
Hopes are held that Imran may be being cared for by someone in the Coober Pedy area, but police said that if the toddler was dead, the number of mine shafts in the area meant finding his body could be impossible.

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
You’re outdoors, or in your house, usually in a rural area. You smell a horrible odor. You step outside and see a thing that you think may be a bear, until it stands up and walks off, like a ape, which this thing may be. The creature may or may not be real.
Steps
- Do not panic, and do your best to stay calm. There are no accounts of Bigfoot attacking humans.
- Hide, so that it doesn’t see you.
- If you have a camera, make sure it is in working order, and take as many pictures as you can.
- If you’re armed, don’t use weapons unless it is attacking you.
- After it leaves, collect all physical evidence, such as hair, blood, feces, etc. and save it.
- Call a wildlife biologist, a Park Ranger, or a Conservation Officer.
- Preserve the area as if it was a crime scene, to avoid losing or contaminating any evidence.
- As soon as possible, do your best to record your memories of what it looked, sounded, or even smelled like. If you have a sketch book, draw it. Write a description of the creature. If you aren’t sure that it had a certain feature, mark it with a question mark.
- Report against doubts
- Even if you doubt that it is, still record data and other information that may be needed, in case you actually have discovered Bigfoot.
Tips
- Be warned that you will be thoroughly investigated, so if you drink, use drugs, smoke, quit that now. These will affect your credibility as a witness. You do not want to be labeled as a dopehead, drunk, or worse.
- Preserve all evidence for the investigative details sent out by different private organizations, universities, or government agencies.
